Crystallization studies are carried out under non isothernal conditions with samples heated at several unifrom rates. Variations in two important parameters namely glass transition temperature Tg and glass forming ability Kg1 have been studied with variation in Bi content various heating rates. Analyzing the results that with increaes in Bi content, the glass forming ability Kg1 also decreases has been it. The activation energy plays a dominant role in deciding the utility of the materials for the specific purpose-here storage. From the heating rate dependence of Tg. The activation energy E1 for glass transition has been evaluated. This analysis helps in finding the suitabiity of an alloy to be used in phase transition optical memories/switches.
